Since the enactment of the Brazilian Oil Law (Law # 9,478/97), the partners of SVMFA have been at the forefront of several projects encompassing all phases of the oil and gas economic chain. These projects started in Bolivia, where gas is produced and later transported to the Brazilian border through the Bolivian section of the Bolivia-Brazil Pipeline (GASBOL). In Brazil, gas is transported through the Brazilian section of GASBOL up to the São Paulo market. More recently, SVMFA has assisted major O&G companies on the review of the effects of the Bolivian "New Hidrocarbons Law" on gas supply, transportation and distribution agreements with Brazilian counterparts. The firm's assistance covered several scenarios such as the increase of the government take, the expropriation of marketing rights, force majeure, hardship etc.

SVMFA's partners have long-standing experience in the international O&G industry. The firm represents a wide range of O&G companies in connection with various domestic and international projects. In the Brazil Rounds promoted by ANP, SVMFA´s partners have represented oil and gas companies in the structuring of guarantees, concession, joint operating and joint bidding agreements.

SVMFA has been assisting international companies and private equity funds in the structuring of farm-in and farm-out transactions with PETROBRAS, including tax and contractual aspects. SVMFA has represented clients in the review of risk production agreements of marginal fields located in the northern of Brazil and in bids promoted by ANP.

Our partners´ participation in gas distribution projects goes back to the 90s with the privatization of the gas distribution companies. The partners have represented shippers in the negotiation of gas supply and transportation agreements and participated in the negotiation and structuring of capacity release operations in the GASBOL.

SVMFA is currently involved in the study of alternatives for the development of the Brazilian refining and petrochemical facilities. SVMFA provides legal assistance in connection with the importation of oil, gas and by-products.
